Let me know your thoughts..

I am the youngest of six kids, all of whom graduated from Cardinal Brennan and Immaculate Heart High Schools since the early 1960's. I graduated from CB in 1973.

We have all benefited greatly from the foundation that this wonderful school afforded us. It helped develop my family members, my classmates and myself into intelligent and caring young adults. It truly prepared us all for life and has carried us all for many years. While the doors may be closing, the spirit that it brought us will never die.

I am sure I speak for all CBHS and IHHS graduates when I say that this school will always have a very special spot in our hearts. Besides being a beautiful campus, it was a great place to learn, both spiritually and academically, and fostered friendships that thirty-plus years later are just as special. It taught us the true meaning of the Catholic faith.

There was also a real sense of community at CBHS (and IHHS, I suppose). We may have been small in numbers but we were huge in school spirit.

I was very saddened when I heard the school was closing. It is a shame that such a tradition will be ending. This school and building have been a great part of Schuylkill County for over 50 years.

I was in Girardville for the St. Patrick's Day parade, the day after the announcement was made. I saw friends from my high school days and it brought back some wonderful memories. Every one was hurting to some extent about the announcement of the school's closure, even though it has been over 30 years since we went there.

Fortunately, fond memories live on, but unfortunately, those memories will also remind us that the school will be gone.

I don't think you will find a more beautiful high school campus anywhere in the state, let alone the area. I pray that the diocese will decide, in its wisdom, that this building will remain and it can be put to some good Catholic purpose in the Cardinal Brennan/Immaculate Heart tradition.

I vote.. message board

I vote message board and photos and alumni news and anything else you can get your hands on. let's face it, class reunions just aren't what they used to be. my own was supposed to happen a year ago and didn't. why i don't know, but it didn't. set up a more extensive website, overall. it can be done.

i'd do it myself but i don't know jack about that kind of thing. that's why i said whoever's running this thing should. i bet CB staff and whoever the director of development is now would help. it'd be like always being able to go home with just a click of your mouse. somebody seriously think about that

Someone from Lourdes or Nativity is going to put it together!

No worries. The blog is not dead. The Church has not closed me. There will also be a message board and some other developments on this site in coming days and weeks.

are you gonna have a ton of photos and alumni info as well? i don't think just a message board would last too long

I would suggest changing the already exsisting school website for alumni photos, etc when the school closes down. I think American Computer has something to do with the school's site. You might want to check that possibility out.

yes but would american computer be willing to actually pay someone to maintain it? i doubt that any current CB staffers would be willing to. or maybe they would. anything's possible.
